The Carnival crew has a stellar reputation as being some of the best at sea. You can expect towel animals nightly in the staterooms, twice-daily housekeeping, and smiles from everyone you interact with. The international crew, focused on helping passengers have the greatest cruise vacation possible, are also always eager to talk to guests young and old about their countries and life at sea. Staying connected is easy aboard Mardi Gras, thanks to the surprisingly fast Wi-Fi on the ship.

BOLT is the first roller coaster at sea – and it’s quite a ride. It’s unlike anything you’ve ever experienced on a cruise ship, so don’t miss it. Like the Vista-class Carnival liners, Mardi Grass has Havana staterooms with a patio (indoor-outdoor space) with direct access to an exclusive Sundeck area with loungers, Bar and swimming pool.

The coins are traditionally placed to bring luck to the vessel during construction and later at sea. A signature outdoor fun facility is the ropes course SkyCourse (length 600 ft / 183 m). SkyCourse is part of the SportSquare (sports complex) with an indoor hangout, mini-bowling, mini-golf course, The Clubhouse, Ping-Pong area with tables, jogging track, interactive sports gaming, arcade basketball.
How Big is Carnival’s Mardi Gras Cruise Ship?
Mardi Gras ship's itinerary program is based on Caribbean roundtrips leaving from homeport Port Canaveral (Orlando City, Florida USA), with preferential berthing at the new "Carnival Terminal 3" (CT3). The canceled in early-July "Caribbean 2020" program was planned to start after the Transatlantic repositioning from Europe. Follows the complete list of Carnival Mardi Gras lounges, clubs and other entertainment venues for kids, teens, and adults. The XL-Class is similar in design and facilities to Helios-Class ships produced for Carnival Corporation's brands Costa and AIDA by Meyer Werft in Papenburg Germany. Other Excellence-Class liners (Mardi Gras sisterships) are Carnival Celebration (2022), Carnival Jubilee (2023), P&O Iona (2020), P&O Arvia (2022), Costa Smeralda (2019), Costa Toscana (2021), AIDAnova (2018), AIDAcosma (2021). The most affordable way to experience all the Carnival excitement, without cutting corners on comfort.

In addition to a private, outdoor hot tub and shower, you’ll also have full access to the Cloud 9’s thermal suite and the Havana pool area. Guy’s Burger Joint brought by TV celebrity chef Guy Fieri has already been a popular venue onboard other Carnival cruise ships. However, onboard Carnival Mardi Gras, his venue located on deck 17 is the largest in the fleet offering those award-winning burgers and fries many cruisers crave for! Guy’s Burger Joint even has a breakfast menu that guests can enjoy in the morning. Family Harbor staterooms, with their unique nautical décor, can be found near Mardi Gras’ own Family Harbor Lounge — an exclusive spot with breakfast, snacks during the day, plus board games, family movies, video games and more. The benefits don’t end there — your little girls and boys eat free in most onboard specialty restaurants and get a free evening of Night Owls babysitting service, so you can enjoy a little alone time.
And for military folks — or folks who just want to raise a glass to them — please report to Heroes Tribute™ Lounge for great service. We know you guys like soft serve too, so we're throwing in a Swirls™ location — one of two! At Summer Landing, fun this cool is literally always in season.

You’ll find two can’t-miss spots in Mardi Gras’ French Quarter. New York Strip Steak, Berkshire Pork Chop, and Free Range Chicken at Rudi’s Seagrill will surely please those who aren’t seafood lovers. A wide range of classes are available, from sushi-making to cake workshops. Classes are held each day (depending on demand) – sometimes two or three per day – for groups of 18 or less.
Nobody books a Cloud 9 Spa stateroom unless they love relaxation and want to do more of it. If this sounds like you, let us tell you about a room with a little extra something. A Cloud 9 Spa Cove Balcony stateroom sits closer to the waterline than most rooms, which means that your balcony puts you in a prime position to check out those waves. So if you think that sitting outside and checking out the waves might help you relax, this is the room for you! Plus, like all Cloud 9 Spa staterooms, this one features private spa access, special amenities and priority spa reservations. Mardi Gras is divided into six different zones that incorporate themed elements and spaces for hosting activities and events, over 20 dining options, and nearly the same number of bars and lounges.
Mardi Gras Departure Ports
Although Wi-Fi tends to be slow on cruise ships, the Wi-Fi speed aboard Mardi Gras is fast enough that passengers can take part in video calls and even stream Peloton workouts from your cabin or the fitness center. Available on all Fun Ships is Chef's Table (VIP dining experience / 12-guest capacity) that includes multicourse dinner with ship's Master Chef, private cocktail reception and galley/kitchen tour. This dining option usually takes place in a non-traditional venue (a dedicated room in the galley) and can be booked onboard for USD 75 per person.
The ship has 12 - including Carnival favorites like the Havana Bar, Redfrog Tiki Bar and Piano Bar 88. Waiting lines formed well before showtimes, with multiple shows offered daily. Many guests in our group planned their evenings around The Punchliner Comedy Club shows throughout the cruise. Although this Carnival Mardi Gras specialty restaurant was originally meant to have an added fee, dining here is currently free for most items.
An ultimate, luxury category of Carnival’s suites, the Excel Suites debuted on Mardi Gras, bringing exclusive suite-level amenities, unlimited access to resort-style features, and an open-air enclave called Loft 19. Within Loft 19, guests enjoy a dedicated concierge phone line, priority Main Dining Room time assignments, upgraded bathroom amenities and more. Loft 19 also offers a full bar and private pool, as well as spacious cabanas with extras like fresh fruit, chilled towels, lunch delivery, and concierge service. Carnival’s Excel Suite guests receive priority status when reserving a Loft 19 cabana. Balcony staterooms are proof that while it’s great to be cruisey… on vacation, breeziness is a virtue too. And any time you’re in your well-appointed Balcony stateroom aboard Mardi Gras®, you’re just steps away from the outdoors by way of your private open-air oasis.
BOLT features self-propelled, all-electric, motorcycle-style vehicles that propel thrill-seekers to 40 mph (64 kph) along its 800-foot track. At its peak, passengers will get a view as high as 187 feet above the ocean as the ride climbs, dips, and swings around the track. Next tables show the ship's revised program with the maiden voyages (inaugural itineraries by destination) as call ports (arrival/departure times) and lowest prices per person in USD (Inside cabin fares based on double occupancy). The new Mardi Gras has Carnival fleet's second "Big Chicken" restaurant at sea (by Shaquille O'Neal). Debuting on Carnival Radiance in 2021, Big Chicken by Shaq is located aft on Lido Deck.
Cabin balconies are accessed via sliding floor-ceiling glass doors. On January 25, 2019, was announced that the new Carnival XL-class vessel will have 6 themed zones (neighborhoods) - Grand Central, French Quarter, Lido-Pool, La Piazza, Summer Landing, The Ultimate Playground. Ideal for couples looking for a little more privacy and romance. The Ultimate Playground also includes a SportSquare sports complex, a 600-foot ropes course (which is also the longest ropes course for Carnival’s fleet), a mini-golf course, basketball court, and outdoor fitness areas.

Prepaid gratuities are standard across all non-luxury cruises (where tips are usually included in the rate), including Mardi Gras. Casual dress is standard during the day on the Carnival Mardi Gras. Most restaurants, save for the buffet and casual quick bite destinations, expect guests to swap out their flip flops, tank tops, and hats at dinnertime. The adults-only Serenity Retreat, featuring a 24/7 fitness center, outdoor track, and full-service spa is complimentary and just for the grown-ups. Cloud 9 Spa offers manicures, pedicures, and massages for passengers seeking ultimate pampering and relaxation. Billed as a Chinese and Mexican Mashup, the restaurant’s sweet & sour shrimp with hakka noodles and green beans is not to be missed.
Another Vista-class type of cabins are Family Harbor (clustered near Camp Ocean/kids club) and with direct access to the exclusive Family Harbor Lounge. Cloud 9 Spa staterooms traditionally offer exclusive amenities, including premium bathrobes and slippers and Elemis brand toiletries. Extended Balcony staterooms feature a larger balcony with more outdoor lounge-around room, more open-air kick-back space… and back inside the room itself, all the comfort you expect with a great view and plenty of sunlight. These suites are located on the port and starboard sides of the ship.
Zipping down these splash-tastic water slides hits the spot on a hot day. There’s also a 150-gallon power-drencher tipping bucket and a splash zone for kids with many fantastic water elements. Located in the Ultimate Playground zone, Carnival Mardi Gras’ 600-foot ropes course is the longest in Carnival’s fleet. As of March 2024, BOLT is priced at $15 per person for a two-lap ride.
